Development support
Development support shall be allocated for the development of a full-length feature film, animation film, documentary film or TV mini-series. Upon further financing of the film project, the amount of development support shall be included in the amount of production support. The recipient of development support shall spend at least 50% of the EFI support allocated for his or her film project on economic activity in Estonia.
Development support can be applied for by a legal entity whose principal activity is the production of films and to whom the property rights of the authors of the audio-visual work are transferred or licensed. The applicant has to be entered in the Estonian Business Register before the payment is made.

European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024 Arts of Survival Documentaries announces eight filmmakers to capture life in Southern Estonia
Arts of Survival Documentaries has selected eight filmmakers to capture Southern Estonia on the topic of “Arts of Survival”, the artistic concept of European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024. The filmmakers are Viesturs Kairišs (Latvia), Andrey Paounov (Bulgaria), Carl Olsson (Sweden), Ülo Pikkov (Estonia), Jaan Tootsen (Estonia), Eva Kübara (Estonia), Maria Aua (Estonia) and Andris Gauja (Latvia). The collection of films will be released to the audiences in the spring of 2024.
